Being a successful chiropractor doesn't just mean adjusting people's
backs to eliminate pain. Dr. Trey Leago is committed to teaching people
about maintaining proper health, not only through a properly aligned
spine, but through proper nutrition and exercise too.
Dr. Leago has been a practicing chiropractor since 2003, after receiving
his degree from the Texas Chiropractic College, and he has been in
private practice since April 2007. His primary focus is to teach people
that everyone can benefit from chiropractic care in one way or another.
"My practice's mission statement is 'to educate and adjust as many
families as possible towards optimal health through natural chiropractic
care,'" said Dr. Leago.
While Dr. Leago will treat patients for neck pain, back pain, and
headaches, his level of care goes beyond just eliminating the pain.
"We like to educate our patients more than some other chiropractors do,"
said Dr. Leago. "We teach our patients what their spine looks like, and
we focus on correction and prevention, rather than pain management and
medication."
Dr. Leago says he has a very high success rate for people who stick to
their treatment plan. He says that after a patient feels better, they
try to maintain their level of spinal health.
"We tend to see back pain from everyday activities, like exercise and
bad posture," said Dr. Leago, "so we focus on providing basic
fundamental care to everyone. A lot of chiropractors like to put their
patients on supplements and use all kinds of therapies. But we find that
most people respond well to the type of care we provide."
Dr. Leago says they provide x-rays for all their patients, unless the
patient is pregnant. They accept most major insurance, which lightens
the out-of-pocket expenses for their patients. And when it comes to
adjusting, they focus mainly on two types of adjusting techniques: the
manual type, and the activator.
"Some people call it the clicker. It's for people who don't like their
bones to pop," said Dr. Leago. They also use cervical traction and
therapeutic exercise to help people maintain proper alignment.
Dr. Leago also accepts kids as part of his practice, and said they like
to treat as many kids as possible. "Patients will bring their kids to
get checked out, and we provide a complimentary service to check the
kids out for free."
Dr. Leago began his undergraduate work at the College of the Mainland,
and then transferred to the Texas Chiropractic College to finish his
degree. When he's not treating patients, Dr. Leago loves to snowboard,
play golf, hunt and fish, and loves watching the Dallas Cowboys and
Texas A&M Aggies.
